Types of therapies available

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking or behaviour that underlie people’s difficulties and so change the way they feel. CBT is based on the well-researched theory that thoughts, feelings, behaviour and how our body feels are all connected. If we change one of these, we can alter the others.

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) shares features with CBT. It is short-term and goal-orientated. CAT focuses on the way we relate to ourselves and other people. It is based on the idea that as children we develop strategies to deal with difficult emotions, situations and relationships that may become limiting as we move into adulthood, where our reality is broader. CAT can incorporate different therapeutic approaches. It has been demonstrated as effective in a wide range of clinical settings, for a wide range of emotional and physical health difficulties. The evidence base for CAT suggests that it is good for complex situations, where there may be a mixture of symptoms from a number of other diagnoses. It is helpful where the difficulties seem to be relationship-based, or where they keep causing problems in relationships. CAT is a good therapy for exploring the development or origin of difficulties and understanding why they remain.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. It is an effective treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and a recommended treatment outlined in the UK’s NICE Guidelines. EMDR can be offered as a stand-alone intervention or incorporated into other therapeutic models, as needed.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a treatment developed for individuals who experience difficulties in managing their emotions and who have found understandable but unhelpful ways of coping. These coping mechanisms may include self-harm, abuse of alcohol and other chaotic and risky behaviours. DBT skills can be learned as a stand-alone intervention or incorporated into other therapeutic models, as needed

Dr Lucy Hall-Payne

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when it involves opening up about personal challenges. That’s why choosing the right psychologist is essential. Research shows that the strongest indicator of positive therapeutic outcomes is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. My approach is warm, compassionate and respectful. I prioritise building rapport, ensuring that clients feel safe and supported as they explore a wide range of difficulties. I am passionate about providing a holistic approach to mental health.

While I have substantial experience working across the lifespan, my specialist areas include attachment, working with children, couples, families, and individuals who have experienced trauma, including developmental and complex trauma. I have also provided support to looked after children, foster carers, and young people involved in the criminal justice system.

I hold a Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, accredited by the British Psychological Society. I am also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

How much does Clinical Psychology cost?

We see self-referring / paying patients alongside those with Private Medical Insurance (BUPA, AXA and all other major insurers).

Both Dr Ringrose and Dr Gilkes are recognised and reimbursed by TRICARE for USAF staff, dependents and retirees.

60 minute Therapy Session £125

I’ve been seeing Joe for a while to help manage my tension migraines. He keeps the symptoms under control and has offered practical advice that’s helped reduce how often they occur. Joe's guidance has made me aware of the triggers and how I can make positive changes to my lifestyle to reduce/manage my migraines.Several members of my family have also been successfully treated by Joe for a range of issues, and he’s always our first port of call whenever an injury crops up. His approach is friendly, down‑to‑earth, and genuinely knowledgeable — exactly what you want in an osteopath. If you’re looking for a skilled professional who listens, understands, and delivers real results, Joe is the Osteo to see.

Wanted to give a huge shout out to Joe for the amazing job he did relieving my chronic lower back pain. I've had pain for about 6 years now and have tried everything to cure it and nothing worked or gave me relief. Joe was the only person who was able to diagnose the issue I was having and found a way to remedy the pain I was enduring and actually made my quality of life amazing again! I saw him for 2 years and in those two years, I got my life back being able to walk, bend, lift, stand, you name it. He also became a great acquaintance as he has great conversations (especially about fishing) but also listened and talked me through some hard times. He even helped me out with pain during my entire pregnancy as well! I was sad to move from the area and wish I could find another osteopath like Joe who's very knowledgeable in the field but also has great communication skills and FIXES issues rather than putting "band-aids" on. Highly recommend!!

Cannot recommend Elly (osteopath) enough. We often joke it will be a painful visit but honestly, I have been in crisis and left after treatment in a much better place. Cannot recommend enough, thank you !

I underwent a course of shockwave therapy, with James, for Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome, in my left hip area. The treatment has relieved most of the pain that was affecting the knee, hip and groin areas. I would highly recommend this treatment for those with a similar problem.
