Lymphoedema is a build-up of body fluid that causes swelling, along with changes to the skin and underlying tissues. It can affect any part of the body, though it is most commonly seen in the arms and legs. The swelling occurs due to an impaired lymphatic system.
There are two main types of lymphoedema:
Primary lymphoedema – when the lymphatic system has not developed properly.
Secondary lymphoedema – when a previously healthy lymphatic system has been damaged.
Secondary lymphoedema can arise from a number of causes, including trauma, surgery, radiotherapy, infection, venous disease, advanced stages of certain conditions, and lipoedema.
Without appropriate management, lymphoedema can progress over time, leading to increased swelling, discomfort, reduced mobility, and changes in skin integrity. Early intervention and specialist care are key to managing symptoms effectively and improving quality of life.

Wanted to give a huge shout out to Joe for the amazing job he did relieving my chronic lower back pain. I've had pain for about 6 years now and have tried everything to cure it and nothing worked or gave me relief. Joe was the only person who was able to diagnose the issue I was having and found a way to remedy the pain I was enduring and actually made my quality of life amazing again! I saw him for 2 years and in those two years, I got my life back being able to walk, bend, lift, stand, you name it. He also became a great acquaintance as he has great conversations (especially about fishing) but also listened and talked me through some hard times. He even helped me out with pain during my entire pregnancy as well! I was sad to move from the area and wish I could find another osteopath like Joe who's very knowledgeable in the field but also has great communication skills and FIXES issues rather than putting "band-aids" on.
